How We Serve Our Community

Partner Organizations   We work in partnership with several organizations, who use our space for their programs. Seabold Montessori Preschool and Island Co-op Preschool both share our space for their preschools. Island Time Activities uses our space to work with adults with intellectual and developmental (dis)abilities.

We also participate in a number of projects independently.

Sandwich Sunday   For over 40 years, we have taken sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, and fruit to Seattle. We now have transitioned to working within our own community, partnering with Coffee Oasis in Poulsbo. We collect sandwiches and other healthy foods weekly for the homeless youth and young adults that drop into their after-school center.

Super Supper is the last week of each month, hosted at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church in Winslow. Seabold UMC helps provide the meal on Monday. Other Island faith groups, through the Interfaith Council, share in this outreach, working together to provide dinners for people who are short of food and money at months’ end.

CROP Walk   A Church World Service project organized by members of Seabold UMC and the Bainbridge Island/North Kitsap Interfaith Council.  CROP Walk funds help relieve hunger with projects worldwide including 25% of funds returned locally to Helpline House  on Bainbridge and Fishline in Poulsbo.

Bainbridge Island Ometepe Sister Island Association, working with the Catholic Church in Balgue, Ometepe, Nicaragua, has developed a sister church relationship. The students, while preparing for their cross-cultural trip, use our space. We remember them with our prayers and gifts.  In addition, we support annual projects for youth and adults in Ometepe.

United Methodist Women (UMW)   Our United Methodist Women support church Mission projects and Missionaries worldwide.  The UMW meets on the second Tuesday of the month, September through June. Meetings are held at church in the social hall, from 10:00 to 1:00.  A special program is planned each month, with lunch at noon.

Church of Mary Magdalene   Each November, we participate the angel tree program.  Gift tags are sent with requests for gifts for children of homeless moms, as well as shoe vouchers and gift requests from the children to give to their mothers.  The unwrapped gifts are returned to the church prior to their Christmas celebration luncheon in December.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)   We support the efforts of UMCOR through cash donations to specific disasters or world events, and also through making health kits to be delivered to people in need.

Also, education and participation of our congregation in United Methodist missions around the world.  It also facilitates local mission outreach in the Puget Sound area. We work also with the Interfaith Council to inform people about areas of social concern, locally and abroad.
